Ecological Restoration and Sustainable Development - Establishing Links Across Frontiers, 7th conference of the Society for Ecological Restoration

The 7th conference of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) Europe will be held in Avignon, South-Eastern France in 2010. For scientists and practitioners who work on biodiversity and habitat restoration, this SER International European meeting (Section Europe : www.ser.org/europe). offers an outstanding opportunity for transboundary contacts and exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices in ecological restoration. This congress is organised by the University of Avignon, the Institute of Technology, in collaboration with The University Paul Cézanne and the University of Provence, the CNRS, IRD, CEMAGREF, INRA, WWF, The Fondation Tour du Valat and the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur province.
The biological conservation and ecological restoration of natural and semi-natural habitats are both essential in Europe.The aim of the conference is to present and assess the state-of-the-art in ecological restoration and to bring together scientists, policy makers, practitioners and stakeholders for mutual exchange and synergy. Through lectures, workshops, poster sessions and excursions, the conference will offer an outstanding opportunity for transboundary contacts and exchanges of knowledge, experiences, and “best” or at least successful practices in ecological restoration, an emerging field and profession at the crossroads of applied ecology, ecological and environmental economics.
The official languages of the congress are English and French (traduction available only for plenary sessions). Several oral presentations concerning different projects of ecological restoration will be realised during field excursions in the area around Avignon.
