International Symposium Palms 2010
Le Corum Montpellier , from 05 May 2010 to 07 May 2010
The palm family (Arecaceae) is a distinctive group of more than 2,400 species growing in a multiplicity of forms in diverse habitats. The aim of this Symposium is to bring together researchers from a wide range of disciplines carrying out research on the biology of palms, so as to encourage the exchange of new knowledge and the development of multi-disciplinary approaches. An understanding of the biology of palms is critical to both the preservation of their biodiversity and the sustainable exploitation of their agronomic and ethnobotanical potential.
We are grateful to the
EUNOPS network for keeping the momentum of Palm Science since 2001 and we are sure that this event will provide a unique opportunity to expand the circle of our friends and colleagues.
Montpellier has a long standing reputation in tropical plant research and is the home of several institutions carrying out research into the biology of palms in both natural and cultivated environments.
We look forward to welcoming colleagues and friends old and new in Montpellier for what we believe will be a highly enriching and convivial gathering!
