Results and perspectives of oceanographic researches in Africa dedicated to the Tropical Atlantic and the Gulf of Guinea

Centre de conférence du Chant d’Oiseau, Cotonou, BENIN, from 25 October 2010 to 29 October 2010

Main objectives of this colloquium are :

  • To present scientific results of on going programs dedicated to physical oceanography and linked to climatic and environmental problems
  • To discuss about ocean (coastal and open ocean) observation systems in the Western coast/Atlantic African countries (from Senegal to South Africa)
  • To define new research priorities and coastal observation systems to maintain/deploy in the next years, in the same scientific domains.
  • To draw, by participants, one/several common proposal(s) of research about some priority topics (coastal erosion and monitoring, relationships between upwellings and resources/regional climate…).
