IRD in Europe
The IRD and CPU ("Conférence des présidents d’université" or Conference of University Presidents) have recently combined their representation in front of the European authorities. Thus, a permanent representative has been assigned to represent the two parties before, amongst others, the General Management for Research and Innovation (“Directions générales chargées de la recherche et de l’innovation” or DGRI), the General Management for Development and Cooperation (“Direction Générale de Développement et Coopération” or DGDEVCO), and the European External Action Service (EEAS).
The institute conducts its work in agreement with the European guidelines and is able to identify opportunities that may influence and act in favour of strengthening scientific partnerships with Southern countries, in accordance with the priorities of the European Commission, as well as by initiating partnerships between Northern countries for the benefit of Southern countries, with its peers in the European Union.
