The IRD is present in the biggest events of the scientific culture, places of meeting with the young people and, more widely, the "general public". Key points of these various events, the exhibitions.

These exhibitions are realized by the scientific and technical culture sector of the IRD or co-realized within the framework of partnership with, among others, the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, the centres of scientific and technical culture, associations as the ASTS (Association science technologie société), the French cultural centers abroad. They are produced and spread in support of the Direction Générale de la Coopération Internationale et du Développement (Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs).

These exhibitions associate narrowly the researchers of the IRD who can thus pass on in most large number the fruits of their works in France, in the French overseas departments and territories, in Africa, in Latin America, in Asiaand in the Pacific.
