The research projects
Research conducted at the IRD reflects the identity of the Institute, imbued with colours of the south. It is based on scientific cooperation between North and South to best meet the needs of the people. The disciplines involved range from genetics to anthropology through volcanology, medical entomology or even mathematical modeling.
Relating to the great challenges of our time - climate change, water resources, tropical diseases, the fight against desertification, globalisation and migration - research projects have as perspective the social, cultural and economic development of the South.
