The IRD makes progress in research for development accessible by publishing scientific reference works taken from programmes run by the Institute alongside its main French and foreign partners.
These publications are listed in a catalogue of over 450 multidisciplinary works, in hardcopy or ebook format, in French and in other languages, devoted to questions of development and the environment in the countries of the South.
The main topics are: environmental changes, biodiversity and living resources, health and food safety, social, economic and cultural issues associated with development.

The IRD’s publications are aimed at a broad audience: researchers, academics, teachers, students, trainers, decision-makers, development stakeholders, political or associative managers, etc., and in general any audience interested in scientific issues and their social, economic and cultural repercussions in countries in the South.
