Project Mikoko: final workshop and launch of the participative digital platform

On May 26, 2021 the IRD, CIRAD and KFS organized the last workshop of the project Mikoko entitled “Mangrove, a flagship socio-ecosystem for the blue economy” taking place at the Neptune Hotel, DIani, Kenya. On May 27, a mangroves tour at Gazi Bay was also organized.

On December 15th, Kenyan journalists were invited to a thematic workshop on mangrove conservation and resilience in order to better apprehend this complex ecosystem.

"Nyota Ya Mikoko": Launch of the Kenyan mangrove research vessel

Nyota ya Mikoko, the Kenyan mangrove research vessel, was officially launched on July 26th 2020 during The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem.

The project team distributed more than 5000 masks to the Lamu population.
