On Friday 20 September, Professor Nguyen Trung Viet, Vice Rector of Thuy Loi University, and Associate Professor Tran Thanh Tung, Vice Director of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, came to welcome IRD's new representative in Vietnam.

Teams from IRD and Thuy Loi University have been working closely together for a dozen years in the fields of irrigation, artificial intelligence, water resources and coastal erosion control. The LMI ACROSS is hosted by Thuy Loi University. Ways of cooperation to be developed in other sectors were discussed, in particular the functioning of lagoons, flooding and the resilience of coastal cities, and new methods to protect beaches from erosion.
